During the Christmas and New Year's holiday travel period, Hawaii hosts more travelers than at any other point in the year.
Those tourists are looking for an affordable vacation, and CheapHotels.org has compiled a list that shows the cheapest hotel rates for the most popular Hawaiian destinations. The survey found the lowest priced double rooms for 16 destinations between Dec. 23 and Dec. 28.
The list only contains hotels rated at least three stars and located close to the beach.
People looking to travel cheaply should look first at the Hilo area on the Big Island. Hotels average $139 per night there, making it Hawaii's least expensive destination. Believe it or not, Honolulu is also relatively cheap, with rates running at $178 per night.
As for the more expensive locations, Maui's Wailea has an average rate of $412 per day, making it the most expensive in the state. Kauai's Princeville will average $378 nightly over the holiday time period.
