Have you ever wanted to spend the night camping out underneath a popular roller coaster?
Even if you haven’t, Michigan's Adventure amusement park in Muskegon, Michigan, is offering the unique opportunity to visitors on Thursday, August 13. Campers will be able to spend the night under the park’s oldest roller coaster, Corkscrew.
In a report from Brandon Champion of MLive.com, this will be the first time Michigan's Adventure has offered a Coaster Campout, but it is not the first for the park’s parent company Cedar Fair Entertainment has orchestrated a similar event.
The amusement park is holding the Coaster Campout in celebration of National Roller Coaster Day, which takes place just a few days later on Aug. 16. In addition to Michigan's Adventure getting involved, Coaster Campouts will be held at several of Cedar Fair Entertainment’s parks in the United States.
Not only will this be a fun event for children and thrill seekers alike, but proceeds will also be donated to the Boys & Girls Club of Muskegon Lakeshore.
“It's an opportunity our guests will never get at any other time,” Marketing Director Laure Bollenbach told MLive.com. “Normally, we aren't open overnight. Guests will get to come into the park when no one else is here, and to actually camp underneath the Corkscrew is pretty cool.”
Visitors who want to reserve a spot must act fast. There are only 20 campsites available and cost $200 each. Included in the campsite rental is admission to the park, dinner, exclusive ride time and breakfast in the morning.
Tickets for the event can be purchased through the theme park’s official website and are available until 11:59 p.m. on Aug. 10. CoasterForce provides a point-of-view trip on the Corkscrew roller coaster at Michigan's Adventure:
