One of the best parts of any summer vacation is visiting amusement parks, and a ride called the FRANTIC at Quassy Amusement & Waterpark in Middlebury, Connecticut, has been drawing the attention of thrill seekers.
According to Quassy Amusement & Waterpark, FRANTIC has been named one of the 19 most anticipated new theme park ride for 2015 by America Online. The unique attraction made its debut on April 25, and the excitement has been spreading ever since.
Quassy President Eric Anderson released a statement about making AOL’s list, saying, “We’re certainly pleased to be listed among some of the top new attractions in the nation. Today’s announcement really took us by surprise. There’s nothing else like it in New England.”
The thrill ride doesn’t look like your typical show-stopping attraction—many of the other rides on AOL’s list were roller coasters—but it packs a big punch despite having a smaller stature.
FRANTIC only holds eight riders who sit in a circular configuration that spins on the end of a pendulum. As the pendulum begins to spin, the ride and the eight passengers continue building speed and momentum until they are doing 360-degree flips.
While a description of the attraction is adequate, check the video below to see the dizzying machine in action:
Quassy purchased FRANTIC for the 2015 season after considering several other options. The park made the right choice, as the thrill-seeker’s dream has become a key addition to the more than two dozen rides and attractions.
Visa International of Italy and its American subsidy Rides4U of Somerville, New Jersey, designed and built the ride. And for those on a budget, $26.50 will get an adult all-day access to FRANTIC and everything else in the amusement and water parks.
Tickets are available on Quassy’s official website.
