Music aficionados can plug into sand, surf and sensual sounds in early September as the Sixth Annual Maui Jazz & Blues Festival hits West Maui’s Kaanapali Beach at the Royal Lahaina Resort. This is the third consecutive year the iconic property has hosted the event, which features legends in both music genres.
“Music is just one of the ways we share ‘Aloha’ with our guests,” said Tom Bell, general manager for the Royal Lahaina. “And being able to showcase world famous jazz musicians on Kaanapali Beach – voted one of the best beaches in the world by Trip Advisor – creates a truly exceptional experience."
While musical soirees will roll out at Royal Lahaina from Sept. 8-11, pre- and post-festival parties will take place in other Maui venues. The grandest event, however, is the main concert from 5-9 p.m. on Saturday, Sept.10 on a Royal Lahaina oceanfront stage with the Pacific Ocean as a backdrop.
Attendees will tune into a blues and jazz lineup that includes Blues Hall of Fame inductee and guitar legend Joe Louis Walker; jazz/rock guitar legend and “Godfather of Fusion” Larry Coryell; Grammy-winning and New Orleans jazz royalty Delfeayo Marsalis; Grammy-winning The Band Courtbouillon with Wayne Toups, Steve Riley and Wilson Savoy; Grammy-nominated jazz saxophone master Javon Jackson; jazz trumpeter Gabriel Mark Hasselbach; sax master Rock Hendricks; and jazz guitarist and Na Hoku winner Benny Uyetake. Additional artists will be announced on the festival’s website at MauiJazzAndBluesFestival.com.
Ticket options range from $50 general admission and $100 premium seating to $1,000 VIP table seating near the stage for 10. As a follow up to a hot night of jazz and blues, Royal Lahaina will present a Sunday Jazz Brunch on Sunday, Sept. 11.
If you have clients into the jazz and blues scene who may be interested in attending the festival, recommend that you should purchase their tickets and book their Royal Lahaina accommodations quickly since the festival sells out each year.
