With Santa Clara's brand new Levi's Stadium set to host Super Bowl 50 in February 2016, the often overlooked California city's Convention and Visitors Bureau has announced a new campaign called "50 Awesome Things to Do in Santa Clara."
The promotional campaign features a blog comprising more than four dozen attractions that visitors can scroll through and learn more about.
"With the national spotlight soon shining on Levi's Stadium and Santa Clara, we want the world to know there are some great visitor experiences here," said David Andre of the Santa Clara Convention and Visitors Bureau in a statement. "I think a lot of people are going to be surprised with all there is to see and do."
According to TripAdvisor's "top things to do" rankings based on traveler reviews, Levi's Stadium, which opened last summer and will play host to next year's Super Bowl on Feb. 7, is the No. 1 attraction in Santa Clara, a city typically overshadowed by neighboring San Francisco, which is located roughly 40 miles northwest.
Another popular family-friendly attraction in Santa Clara that's featured among the campaign's 50 awesome activities is California's Great America amusement park, which ranks sixth on TripAdvisor's list.
The 100-acre park boasts a handful of roller coasters, a waterpark and in more than 40 rides and attractions in all.
"Everyone expects to see a surge with the notoriety that comes with having a Super Bowl," Great America's Roger Ross told the Bay Area's ABC 7 News. "I think it'll put a spotlight on other parts of the Bay Area that people can come to."
"So maybe when they're here (they'll think) - next time I'm in the area I'll check out Santa Clara, I'll check out the amusement parks and see Great America," he added.
Santa Clara University, the Mission Santa Clara de Asis, the Intel Museum and Our Lady of Peace Church and Shrine round out the city's top-ranked attractions, according to TripAdvisor. But with the city's campaign already underway, future visitors aren't likely to run out of ideas anytime soon.
