Should You Add Mars to Your Bucket List?

Populating another planet is not something that many people consider as a life goal — but that’s not true for billionaire investor Elon Musk.
“It’s something we can do in our lifetime,” Musk said.
He recently outlined his plan to take people to Mars at the International Astronautical Congress in Guadalajara, Mexico. It’s a trip he believes can be done in 80 days, reports the Orlando Sentinel, and transport vehicles will include all the amenities.
“It has to be fairly fun and exciting,” he told the conference. “It can’t feel cramped or boring. It’ll be really fun to go. You’ll have a great time.”
According to the Sentinel, the presentation included a simulation of space travelers boarding a rocket and taking off.
“The goal for Musk has been to create a self-sustaining civilization, which he said would take between 40 to 100 years and mean a relocation of 1 million people,” says the Sentinel.
Tickets for a trip to Mars would start at around $200,000 and Musk says that test flights could begin in as few as two years.
There is one hitch though…
“Mars will be very dangerous,” he said. “Are you prepared to die? Then, OK, you’re a candidate to go.”
