Singapore remains at the top of the list when it comes to the world's most expensive city.
Cars and clothing costs propelled the city to the top of the list, so tourists shouldn't be deterred from visiting the country due to perceived expenses. In fact, property rentals in the city are much lower, says a report in Travel Wire Asia.
"On average, rental cost in the island nation stands at around US$3.35 per square foot, while monthly rent for an individual can set one back around US$1,404," writes Travel Wire Asia.
Hong Kong was the next most-expensive city with Zurich, Tokyo and Osaka rounding out the top five.
While Asia may have a lot of representation at the top of the list, the region also has some significantly more affordable areas.
"Despite holding some of the world's costliest metropolises, some of the cheapest cities are also in the region, namely New Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai, Karachi and Bangalore," reports Travel Wire Asia.
