Ben's Chili Bowl, located in Washington, DC, is one of those iconic restaurants that I've heard about so many times that I associate it with the name of its city.
When you go to DC, you gotta have a chili half-smoke at Ben's! When you eat at Ben's, you'll be joining the likes of people from Larry King to Larry the Cable Guy, Chris Rock to Ludacris. Even President Obama loves this place!
I have read about this place in numerous articles and seen it on Travel Channel. We knew we had to give this place a try for ourselves. Basically, we've found that following in the footsteps of "Man vs. Food"'s Adam Richman is a smart thing to do.

Opened in 1958 in the historic U Street Corridor of Washington, DC by Ben and Virginia Ali, Ben's Chili Bowl is still going strong in the same building with the same chili recipe!

What's the verdict? The chili half-smoke is mouth-watering delicious. We could have eaten our weight in them! (We only had one. And chips. And cake.)
While Ben's does serve both beef and pork hot dogs, the chili half-smoke is the best of both: half and half! It's topped with onions, mustard, and then smothered in wonderfully spicy chili!
Ben's is definitely on our list of Best Places to Get a Hot Dog! Okay, so this list may not officially exist just yet, but we still have more hot dogs and chili dogs to try!
*ALSO will will recommend checking out Union Station if you're not sure what you're hungry for. They have a huge food court with just about anything (fast food) you can think of!
