Have you ever said “Did it for the Insta?” It’s a growing term, says Men’s Fitness.
“That phrase is thrown around constantly these days and the desire to score the perfect “Instagram-worthy” shot drives people to do some pretty crazy things,” writes Caitlin Carlson.
More and more people are getting out of the comfort zone to get the perfect snap.
“In fact, the pursuit of likes and comments can actually push us to do things we’d normally be too scared to do—like leap into a lake from a towering rock ledge, or maybe even travel somewhere you may otherwise feel is out of your comfort zone,” she says.
For those going in search of the ideal Instagram shot, Men’s Fitness enlisted the help of adventure travel blogger and photographer Matthew Karsten to get the inside scoop.
Norway’s Lofted Islands is an ideal place for Instagram feeds — and more says Karsten.
“The Lofoten Islands are situated above the arctic circle in Norway, made up of deep fjords and majestic mountains rising steeply from the sea,” Karsten tells Men’s Fitness. “Small red and yellow fishing cabins dot the landscape, creating wonderful postcard photo opportunities.”
Another top choice is Amsterdam.
“The Netherlands, and particularly Amsterdam, is full of charming places for photography,” Karsten says. “You can capture the city's cycle culture, bridges, and canals surrounded by flowers, or simply the wonderful old architecture.”
Karsten’s third pick: Mexico’s Riviera Maya.
“Mexico's popular Riviera Maya route in the Yucatan Peninsula has a wide variety of Instagram photo opportunities like beautiful white sand beaches, ancient Mayan ruins, freshwater jungle swimming holes, and colorful coral reefs,” he tells Men’s Fitness.
