The top three destinations for upscale travelers this fall are Italy, the U.K. and France, according to luxury travel network Virtuoso.
The top destinations list was revealed during the 29th annual Virtuoso Travel Week being held in Las Vegas. The findings are based on Virtuoso's more than $40.7 billion in transactions. The data is drawn from its U.S.-based travel agency members and reflects future travel for this September through December.
Europe took six of the top 10 slots on the list. The Netherlands and Germany are particularly popular options for river cruisers who want to visit the celebrated Christmas markets.
Other travelers are focusing on warm spots as the weather turns, including South Africa, Mexico and Australia. South Africa, in particular, continues to attract upscale explorers due to its wide array of adventure experiences.
Travelers are also increasingly discovering China for its combination of history, rapid growth, improving infrastructure, and increased luxury offerings.
