Travel Oregon to Give Away 7 Custom Bikes in Statewide Scavenger Hunt
In an effort to boost tourism and inspire exploration within the Beaver State, Oregon's tourism commission, Travel Oregon, has announced a statewide scavenger hunt.
Known as "7 Bikes 7 Wonders," the unique campaign will begin next month and features seven different customized bikes that will be hidden within Oregon's seven wonders: Mt. Hood, the Columbia River Gorge, Smith Rock, the Coast, Crater Lake, the Painted Hills and the Wallowas.
All of the seven wonders, established by Travel Oregon last year, are accessible by bike.
Beginning on the week of June 15, Travel Oregon will reveal clues online to assist adventurers in their hunt for the prizes each week. The clues will be featured on Travel Oregon's website as well as on social media sites like Facebook and Twitter.
Users can follow along with the hashtag #7bikes7wonders.
"Cyclists have long been drawn to Oregon's diverse geography, breathtaking scenery and varied terrain" said Governor Kate Brown in a statement, pointing out that "bicycle-related tourism in our state contributes about $400 million to the state's $10.3 billion tourism economy."
"The nexus between Oregon's 7 Wonders and some of the best bike makers in the country will further highlight Oregon as a leader in outdoor recreation," added Brown.
"Oregon is a place for adventure, and our 7 Wonders inspire countless ways for travelers to immerse themselves in the beauty and grandeur of our state," said Travel Oregon CEO Todd Davidson in a statement.
Like you would expect, the first person to stumble across each bike will get to keep it.
