Last year, Utah had a record-breaking ski season. Nearly 5 million visitors traveled to Utah's ski resorts, beating the state's old record by 3 percent.

Now, winter is just around the corner-less than 100 days away-and that means the 2017-18 ski season is right around the corner.

There are new things in store for those heading to Utah's resorts. Ski resorts have made upgrades to everything from ticketing and lift access to snowmaking and technology over the summer.

Snowbird has remodeled its Creekside Lodge, increasing the available space for guests by 13,500 square feet. It will have expanded dining options and be the home base of the Mountain School.

At Alta Ski Area, new high-speed lift access has come to the Supreme and Cecret lifts.

The resort is also offering the new co-ed Alta Breakthrough Camp. The event is targeted toward intermediate and advanced skiers who want to take their knowledge and skills to the next level.

Snowbasin has replaced its Wildcat triple chair with a new high-speed six-pack lift. It is now a quick five-minute ride to the top, and new snowmaking in the Wildcat area will provide visitors with better snow coverage in the beginner and intermediate areas.

Snowbasin is also offering a new, three-day steeps camp for adults. The camp takes advantage of the long, downhill runs that gained recognition during the 2002 Olympic Winter Games.

Powder Mountain has the most skiable acres in North America, with 8,464 of them. The mom-and-pop ski area has upgraded the experience by capping the number of day and season passes it sells. Powder Mountain will sell 1,500 lift tickets in a day and capped season passes at 3,000, meaning there will be an average of 3 skiers per acre at the resort at any time.

Park City Mountain installed a new, enclosed-surface lift as well as a new designated beginner trail over the summer, improving all-weather access to the slopes for newbies.

Solitude Mountain Resort invested more than $1.5 million in improvements, upgrading the Roundhouse Restaurant, Last Chance Lodge and Moonbeam Lodge as well as a new Rossignol rental fleet and trail improvements.

Brian Head Resort launched its first app, making it easy for skiers and riders to get powder alerts, condition reports, track their ski day, follow kids at ski school and access special offers while at the mountain.

At Sundance Mountain Resort, it is even easier to outfit yourself in the latest gear. There is a new shop, Sundance Mountain Outfitter 2, by Jake's Lift. Women can also take advantage of Sundance's Nordic Center Ladies Day, a program for women, by women who want to build their cross-country skills.

For those looking for a truly memorable experience, Deer Valley is offering the Ski With a Champion program where guests can ski with its Ambassador of Skiing, Heidi Voelker, or one of the six other Olympic snow sports athletes. The program is available to individuals, families or groups.

Allegiant is now offering air travel to Ogden-Hinkley Airport from LAX and Las Vegas, making Utah resorts even easier to access.
