They move funny, have long whiskers and make great fodder for your vacation stories.

While some of you may have guess caricatured cowboy, we are actually talking about sea lions, and you can swim with the cute little creatures at Peru’s Palomino Island.

YouTube channel Insider highlights a rare and amazing opportunity that will have you able to come home and boast to friends about the time you went to visit some sea lions on their turf and just chilled out in the local waters for a while.

Here’s a video that will have you scouring the Internet for a similar experience:

We like to think that our species is just as popular among sea lions. Perhaps in that particular mammal’s circles, sea lions exclaim that there’s a place in Peru where you can swim with humans. It’s a nice thought anyway.

TripAdvisor touts myriad avenues you might want to take if you decide that you simply have to swim amid sea lions.

Reviews of the experience range from some commenting, “An amazing opportunity to swim with sea lions.” While other curmudgeons warned: “After half the boat throwing up from the choppy waves, we arrived to a rock full of sea lions- be prepared for the smell! It was interesting but almost 4 hours only to as one small rock was not worth it. We also didn't see any penguins. The whole tour was in Spanish as well so we did not understand.”

We encourage you to realize that you will be traveling to a giant rock that serves as the sea lions’ natural habitat. There won’t be any nearby Starbucks or comfortable accommodations. If that’s what you seek, stay by the pool and stream the above video instead.

If you do brave the outrageous opportunity like this Instagram user did, you will come away with a rare sight only a few have enjoyed.
