Late winter and early spring are good times to take an international vacation, particularly to Europe. The crowds haven't shown up yet, and although the weather can be on the unpredictable side, you'll be able to enjoy the European Capitals without the mad crush of tourists that take up residence during the height of summer.
This week I've collected a few packages and promotions on the other side of the Pond. From capitals to cultural powerhouses to beach escapes, all can be enjoyed in the relative quiet and peace of the European winter season.
Have the French Riviera to Yourself
Winter is generally the off-season for the French Riviera, which sees most of its traffic in August.
In Cannes, known for its eponymous film festival, it's easy to spend an entire day on the private jetty and beach at the Hotel Barrière Le Majestic Cannes any time of year, especially during the less trafficked winter months.
During the off-season, the hotel is offering special rates on sea-view deluxe rooms from $174 per night through March 31. Families taking a spring vacation can enjoy up to 50% connecting rooms with the Escapada Famille package, which also offers a range of activities on the beach, from treasure hunts to cooking classes. That package is available through May 31.

Take a Private Tour of Venice
The Hotel Danieli is perhaps one of the most iconic hotels in Venice-its main building occupying a 14th-century palace has been a purveyor of Venetian hospitality since it was first commissioned by the family Dandolo. Today, guests can take in memorable views of the Grand Canal from the rooftop bar and restaurant or admire the ancient splendor of the hotel's great hall.
The Discover Venice package requires a minimum two nights stay. It offers arrival and departure gifts, late 4 PM checkout and breakfast for two on the canal before setting off for a private tour to explore Venice's churches, canals and favorite local bakeries. Rates for the package start at €440 per night.
Enjoy a Suite Deal in Berlin
The Hotel Adlon Kempinski opened in 1907, immediately adjacent Berlin's Brandenburg Gate, and quickly became synonymous with the city itself.
The technique of charcoal-broiling steaks was invented at this hotel, which was also the first to provide ensuite bathrooms for all guests. The hotel was also where the fictional Sally Bowles (of Cabaret fame) dined on caviar for both breakfast and lunch.

Today's guests enjoy the Michelin-starred Lorenz Adlon and a number of other lounges, restaurants and bars, where the hotel cooks up its own signature take on the famous Berlin currywurst.
Through March 31, guests can experience the Suite Breakfast package, including the luxury of an Adlon Executive or Junior Suite along with a sumptuous breakfast buffet on the Bel Etage from €399 plus tax.
