Adventure is almost synonymous with Costa Rica, but there are a few locations that adventure-lovers should definitely head first. Writer Laura Alvarado highlights some of these in an article for the Costa Rica Star.
One suggestion: Head to Chirripo National Park, where you will find the country’s highest peak, Cerro Chirripó Grande, which stands more than 12,000 feet high.
“From the top in a clear day you can get to see both the Pacific Ocean and the Caribbean Sea if the weather conditions permit,” she says.
Barra Honda National Park is another good location for adventure enthusiasts. The park is known for its caverns that are open year round with guided tours that allow entrance to two of the caves.
“There are 42 caves total in Barra Honda, but only 19 of them have been explored,” writes Alvarado.
For those who are looking for an underwater adventure, Alvarado suggests Isla del Coco.
