Perched on the edge of the Pacific, Los Angeles is known for its celebrities, its hiking culture and its eccentric healthy lifestyle choices — which all lends itself to an abundance of spa experiences.

U.S. News and World Report consulted the experts to get their suggestions on where travel-weary vacationers could melt away their stress.

One recommendation: the Spa at the Beverly Wilshire.

"We rarely recommend anything outside the hotel because it's one of the best in the city," Jeanne Mills, concierge at the property, tells U.S. News and World Report. "Our therapists and aestheticians are incredibly tenured and experienced, so guests remain very loyal to them."

Another place to find relaxation is Alchemie in Santa Monica.

"It's a holistic spa with a balance of crunchy aspects of massage with a modern, design-driven aesthetic," Casey Duggan, head concierge at the Viceroy Santa Monica, tells U.S. News and World Report. "It balances New World and Old World ideology."

Koreatown is a hidden bastion of wellness retreats.

“Looking for a relaxing afternoon that doesn't require dropping so much cash? The affordable day pass from Koreatown's Wi Spa is a hit with Angelenos and visitors alike,” writes Emily Manthei.
