Escaping to your own private island — where you are the sole inhabitant and getting away from it all — is the stuff vacation dreams are made of. And the folks at Conde Nast Traveler have rounded up some of the best private island resorts, where you can truly escape from the perils of reality.
While you can get as far away from civilization as humanly possible in remote places such as Laical Island, Fiji, or you can stay close to home in the Florida Keys.
One suggestion: Frigate Island Private, Seychelles. Conde Nast says, “Nature rules on this conservation-focused island in the Seychelles, a “Garden of Eden” that’s home to hundreds of Aldabra tortoises, 101 species of seabirds, and numerous rare and endemic creatures.”
A little closer to home (but not by much) is The Brando in French Polynesia. The eco-conscious getaway was once the retreat of Marlon Brando.
Little Palm Island Resort & Spa in the Florida Keys is a slice of heaven in our own backyard.
The island experience is what you make of it and these private islands won’t disappoint. Check out the rest of the list here.
