Rainbows are not a rare phenomenon but some destinations may have a slight advantage over others when it comes to finding perfect arcs of colorful beauty.
To understand where to find the best rainbows, here’s a brief refresher from the Active Times on Huffington Post on how they materialize in the first place.
“Rain droplets serve as a type of reflector of light. White light enters one individual rain droplet and exits as one specific color of the spectrum. Without millions of such drops, a rainbow is not possible to form,” the Active Times reminds us.
Combining stunning scenery with a rainbow is basically the ingredients for Instagram gold, so here are some suggestions for where to find — and photograph — some of the world’s best rainbows.
First, why not visit Lake Neusiedl, Austria.
“This is one of the most beautiful lakes in Austria. From north to south it is approximately 22 miles long. There are tons of wildlife viewing opportunities around the lake along with beautiful towns and villages,” says the Active Times.
Snapping a rainbow over the Brooklyn Bridge is another win.
“This is one of the oldest and most iconic bridges in the United States. The Brooklyn Bridge connects the boroughs of Manhattan and Brooklyn. It was designated as a National Historic Landmark in 1964,” writes the Active Times.
Hawaii is practically synonymous with rainbows. So, why not head to Hilo?
