While tourism in Paris appears to be regaining some momentum on the heels of a series of terrorist attacks and protests, last year's downtick in visitors to the City of Light has resulted in cheaper flights and hotels for tourists, including Americans.
"The terrorist attack in Paris in late 2015 and the attacks in Europe, in general, have led to fewer travelers visiting the city and better deals to be had from airlines," Expedia spokeswoman Sarah Gavin told the New York Times.
Citing data from Expedia.com, the Times reported airfare to Paris from major U.S. cities has plummeted in comparison to where it was last spring.
For example, ticket prices for flights from New York City to Paris are down by as much as 65 percent. Meanwhile, travelers flying to Paris from Chicago or Los Angeles could see savings as significant as 60 percent and 30 percent, respectively, compared to spring 2016.
On average, airfares from the U.S. to Paris between April 1 and Sept. 1 are down 32 percent (about $625) compared to the same period last year, according to analysis from Kayak.com.
An excess supply of luxury hotels in Paris and lackluster demand for those rooms have also led to some tremendous deals on accommodations. In addition to reduced price, hotels are enticing travelers with free perks, room upgrades and complimentary offerings like breakfast.
Boutique hotel Mama Shelter Paris is a great example highlighted by the Times. This two-star hotel is offering six different packages with nightly rates ranging from $119 to $228. Some of the offers include breakfast, champagne, a personalized welcome and more.

Travelers can also find flight and upscale hotel packages for a three-night trip to Paris next month for as little as $2,000 per person in some cases.
Last month, vacation package provider Perfect Escapes began offering an eight-night journey to Paris and Provence starting at $1,627 per person based on double occupancy. That deal is available now through the end of 2017.
Although there isn't a bad time of year to visit Paris, the spring is arguably one of the best. Temperatures are beginning to warm up while the summer crowds haven't yet arrived. Plus, it doesn't hurt that hotel and airfare rates are virtually unbeatable at the moment.
