As winter is slowly creeping up on us, it’s easy for our minds to wander back to the images of summer — and if you saved up a bit of cash from summer escapades (and hopefully some vacation days), you can use them up with a trip to Dubai.
London-based global-communications pro Chimere Cisse's shares why Dubai is one of her favorite pitstops on the way home to Australia — and why you should go there too — with Refinery29. Here’s why she loves the desert of Dubai.
"The desert around Dubai is stunning — rich red sand meets bright blue skies. The heat and smell of burning oud is so intense and exotic — it’s a heady mix."
Trekking by four-wheel-drive or on a camel have some cool perks.
“The fancier treks come complete with a traditional feast and entertainment in a Bedouin camp,” says Cisse.
When visiting Dubai, a stop at the Sheikh Zayed Mosque is a must, she says.
“Its stunning courtyard features the largest marble mosaic in the world. With its domes, minarets, fountains, and beautiful pillars with inlaid flowers, the interior is equally stunning,” notes Cisse.
And visitors will have no trouble finding relaxation.
“Given Dubai's steamy climate, it’s not surprising that many of its parties take place around swimming pools. Combine this with the city's famous all-day brunches (think: unlimited cocktails and endless platters of fresh fruit) and you have the ultimate in relaxation,” she says.
