Recently, Iceland's president, Guoni Th. Johannesson, was answering questions about his favorite pizza toppings and noted that, if given the chance, he would ban pineapple as a topping, Esquire reports. Sweet and savory pizza lovers the world over gasped in horror. Not really.
But pineapple pizza has long been a source of controversy. You either love it or hate it - and there are many in the "hate it" category.

In fact, social media came out in favor of the president, saying he should be made the leader of the world.
However, that was quickly followed by a host of other people chiming in in favor of the sweet tropical topping.

So will pineapple pizza be banned in Iceland? Not anytime soon, it seems. The president clarified his position on Facebook after an outcry on social media.
"I like pineapples, just not on pizza. I do not have the power to make laws which forbid people to put pineapples on their pizza. I am glad that I do not hold such power," he said.
