13 Netflix Options Perfect For The Traveler In Us All

Your next travel excursion doesn’t begin with an Internet search for the best prices to book.

It begins on the couch.

What follows are just some of the options you can find on Netflix that will fuel that need to tour the world and experience all that it has to offer.

From documentaries that highlight amazing destinations you could only dream of visiting to movies that ignite a spark to travel, Netflix has a treasure trove of options for you to pore over before your next holiday.

The Layover:

If there were one person you should listen to when it comes to quick stops during your layover it would be Anthony Bourdain.

Planet Earth:

It’s not like you need a new appreciation of this wonderful planet to get you to travel. However, watching hours of pristine scenery certainly doesn’t hurt.

Expedition Unknown:

If Indiana Jones had a reality-TV show it would be filled with gunfire and shouts that relics should be in a museum.

Consider this show a far more measured version of that world.

Booze Traveler:

Jack Maxwell scours the globe for the next great beverage-infused memory.

It’s kind of like trying that exotic cocktail that just landed on the menu at your local watering hole. Only, in this case it’s International and ramped up to 11.

Extreme Vacation Homes:

There are a fortunate few out there who can afford a vacation home in which they unwind throughout the year.

Even fewer have vacation homes that could better be called vacation mansions.

Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives:

I wouldn’t normally condone watching Guy Fieri for more than a few minutes. But this show is entertaining in spite of the bombastic chef who treats eating at diners as if it were a rock show.

Man V. Food:

Yes, this is an extreme eating show whose host is mandated to take on a challenge at the end of the episode.

However, Adam Richman does a great job of giving each city its due with various recommendations for every episode.

Long Way Round:

If you ever wanted to take the bike out for an unforgettable journey then this is for you. Before you fire up the motorcycle take a gander at what Ewan McGregor and Charley Boorman went through.

Valley Uprising:

Yosemite National Park shines in this documentary on the brave souls that scale its iconic cliffs.

Into the Wild:

This movie tells the story of Christopher McCandless who tragically searched for isolation and found just that.

Without A Paddle:

If a tragic story of a traveler’s demise isn’t your kind of good time. Then perhaps watch this guilty pleasure about three friends who go on a rafting trip together.

Pee-wee’s Big Adventure:

Pee-wee will stop at nothing to get back his beloved bike, even if that means launching on one epic adventure across the country.

Moonrise Kingdom:

This movie has a wonderful way of capturing childlike resolve and bottling it with a sense of adventure.

Follow along as two kids follow their hearts on a grandiose journey away from home.
