Just months after Acapulco introduced XTASEA, the world's longest over the-the-sea zip line, the attraction is rolling out a major expansion which will include two new record-breaking attractions-the highest climbing wall in the world and the world's longest slide.

The construction of the new adventure park, which is being called Emoción Intensa (Intense Emotions) according to the Costa Rica Star, began September 22 and is slated to open by December 2019. When it opens, its feature attractions will include the already operational mile-long zipline as well as a 13-story climbing wall and a 600-foot long slide both of which are expected to break Guinness World Records. The park will also feature hanging bridges, Tarzan swings, waterslides, pools and swim up bars as well as restaurants with panoramic views of the area.

This ongoing development of the XTASEA park is due to the success of the zip line, which has already launched more than 16,000 rides to visitors from 40 countries around the world.

The slide and climbing wall are the brainchild of Costa Rican architect José Manuel Pizarro and his company Linea Vertical, who also designed the park's zip line. Pizarro, known for his adventure attractions, has completed a number of groundbreaking projects, including the "El Monstruo" zipline in Toro Verde, Puerto Rico, the longest in the world at 7,234.25 feet.

He is also working on another project in Dubai, which when complete is expected to be the longest canopy in the world. When it opens, guests will be able to stand on a see-through platform nearly 250 feet above the desert.

XTASEA is one part of a billion-dollar "Master Plan" by Grupo Autofin, a leading investment group in Mexico, to reinvigorate Acapulco.

In total, the plan includes 20 projects throughout Acapulco including the renovation of the Pierre Mundo Imperial and Princess Mundo Imperial hotels, as well as the new Turtle Dunes Golf Clubhouse, Hotel Prince by Mundo Imperial, Hotel Marqués Boutique and a new tennis stadium.

The Master Plan is expected to be fully implemented by 2022.
