The amusement park industry held one of its most prestigious award ceremonies over the weekend as Amusement Today’s 2016 Golden Ticket Awards were revealed at Cedar Point in Sandusky, Ohio.

Based on the annual poll conducted by Amusement Today, the awards are decided by voters from around the world who rate the top performers in each of the 23 categories.

The biggest award of the ceremony was the “Best Amusement Park” category, which was awarded to Europa-Park in Rust, Germany. The international flavor continued with the presentation of the “Best Water Ride” to Blackpool Pleasure Beach in Blackpool, England, for the ride Valhalla.

Another major category was the “Best Water Park” which went to Schlitterbahn Waterpark in New Braunfels, Texas. For the family travelers, the “Best Children’s Park” award was presented to Idlewild & SoakZone in Ligonier, Pennsylvania.

Roller coaster fans were not neglected in the voting, as Boulder Dash at Lake Compounce in Bristol, Connecticut, and Fury 325 at Carowinds in Charlotte, North Carolina, won best wooden and steel roller coasters for 2016, respectively.
