Bus booking website Busbud recently compiled a list of the most amazing, unique and daring bus rides you can take.
The article, plainly entitled Most Thrilling Bus Rides, is a trip around the world on one of the more stress-free modes of transportation you can take.
You’re probably curious how one quantifies “thrilling” bus rides. According to its website, Busbud's researchers looked at elevation for trips and whittled the list down to those that had changes over a short period.
As it explains: “By combining these metrics to determine maximum altitude change over the shortest distance, we were able to form a ‘thrilling’ ranking.”
If riding along in the back of a bus as you watch the world scream on past is your thing, then you are well taken care of in the western hemisphere: Eight of the top ten show up on this side of the world.

If you are looking for steep, you can call off the search with a trip that takes you from Nazca to Juliaca, Peru. This jaunt of just 548 miles will have you climbing 10,623 feet. Braving the ride is good for the soul, however.
Closer to home, you can get a snow laden show from Denver to Vail, which the website notes will have you changing 12,940 feet over 98 miles. At only a couple of hours, this ride is the perfect way to relax in the comfort of a bus and poke your head up from your book every now and again.

If you’re traipsing through Europe, you have options in the exhilaration department with routes such as Ponts, Spain to Andorra La Vella, Andorra or the one that goes from Genoa, Italy to Lucerne, Switzerland.
Sure, these routes would be thrilling if you were attempting them yourself in a car as well; But wouldn't you rather someone else do the white-knuckle driving for you?
Taking the bus is that rarified trip where you can enjoy one amazing sight after another.
And you don’t even need to stay awake for the boring parts.
