Don't make Arya Stark mad, because you wouldn't like it when she's mad.
This week saw Maisie Williams, a 17-year-old actor who plays a Needle-toting, no-nonsense girl on Game of Thrones, blast British Airways on Twitter because of the airline's policy on underage travelers in their business-class lounge without an adult.
Where is a Hound when you need one?
Before we carry on, please enjoy this apropos intro music provided by the Queen's Guard. Also, we should warn that this post contains spoilers to anyone who is yet to enjoy the monotony that is a business lounge.
Ryan Parker of the LA Times, among numerous other outlets, spotted a few interesting tweets posted by Williams last weekend aimed at British Airways. We think the tweets really sell the story, so we will let them do the heavy lifting.
Be warned there is some NSFW naughty language:
At this point, it's important to note these posts were blasted out to Williams' 585,000 followers, undoubtedly getting the attention of the airline at large. British Airways answered back rather quickly:
Now of course, there is alcohol in various lounges, so it makes sense that some supervision is needed. Well, a Twitter follower decided to ask Virgin Atlantic about their policy on underage travelers.
Here is how that played out, featuring a small but profound thumbs up from Williams.
There is your latest reminder that just about any little incident can go viral nowadays, causing companies around the world to be at the ready like a tennis pro preparing to volley a vicious serve.
Balling on a budget, I can't say I have extensive knowledge of lounges, although I have been lucky to rest and relax in a few before.
Let me start off by saying that they don't feature the debaucherous, drunken fiesta this story might have you believe. If we had to really paint a picture, it would be like entering a room full of zombies, only instead of searching out the living, this sad lot is determined to suck every last ounce of power out of the free sockets for their laptops.
People are sleeping, most are on their computers or smartphones and nobody, and I mean nobody, seems happy. It's a room filled with folks who yawn at the free food and shrug at all the comfy chairs.
Essentially, we see British Airways' need to keep underage travelers under supervision with alcohol around (if that is indeed the reason for their policy), but most lounges yield quite the paradox, garnering the least amount of fun you could have in one of the most bountiful of places.
We would love to hear what you think, because if there is one place where it would be easy to monitor a vibrant and bubbly youngster, it would be among the suit-wearing, power-draining lot they have in the business-class lounge.
Either way, chalk this one up as a win for Williams who, like her Game of Thrones character, took justice into her own hands.
If you mess with Williams, you get the Needle.
