Scheduled to open in the spring of 2018, the yet unnamed virtual reality attraction will utilize headsets and a motion simulator and is set to be the first of its kind in North America. Using an Irish theme, guests will be transported into a land of mythical characters.
Preliminary plans for the virtual reality attraction were revealed during a presentation at Busch Gardens Williamsburg’s Pass Member Preview Day.
“We’re going to take you places that you never thought possible,” Busch Gardens vice president Larry Giles said in a statement. “Nowhere else has this ever been done.”
“This new virtual reality attraction will dramatically transform the capabilities of our motion simulator and deliver a truly unique experience,” Busch Gardens president David Cromwell said. “We will create an immersive environment that all families can enjoy.”
Busch Gardens also formally announced the April 7 as the opening date for the Virginia park’s first wooden roller coaster: the InvadR.
InvadR is Busch Gardens Williamsburg’s eighth roller coaster overall and boasts 74-foot drop, nine air-time hills and a top speed of 48 miles per hour. The park’s official YouTube page shared videos of both the virtual reality attraction and a point-of-view video from the new roller coaster:
