Scheduled to open for the summer 2017 season, Cedar Point amusement park has announced the transformation of its Soak City attractions to the new 18-acre Cedar Point Shores Water Park.

Taking the name from the park’s lakeside location, Cedar Point Shores will feature three new water-based attractions, as well as upgraded food and merchandise stands.

The first major change will be the addition of Point Plummet, a six-story-tall attraction that will feature a four-person aqua-drop body slide that will shoot four guests at the same time down separate 400-foot-long slides.

Located on the same tower as Point Plummet, the Starboard Surge & Portside Plunge rides will feature two, five-story tube slides that will send passengers through an enclosed tunnel before being shot into the pool at the base of the attraction.

Cedar Point shared an artist's rendering of what the slides will look like when completed:

For the smaller children visiting the water park, Lakeslide Landing is a new family splashground that will feature 12 kid-sized water slides. There are also areas around the attraction where parents can relax while watching their children play.

The rest of the existing rides and slides which made up Soak City will be refurbished and renovated to match the new themes of Cedar Point Shores. The existing rides will also undergo name changes to match the lakeside themes.

Add in the fact that the water park will also be adding new restaurants, a main entrance, a poolside bar, more lounge chairs, improved landscaping and more, and the Cedar Point Shores Water Park will be a must-visit for 2017.
