It's clear that many of you haven't picked up on the finer nuances of proper subway etiquette, so it's a good thing that a bunch of puppets are here to hold class.
The following video from YouTube's Glove and Boots (h/t Digg) features one frustrated Johnny T delivering what we should all just consider the definitive list of New York City subway tips.
Heck, a sizable chunk of these things are just solid advice for buses, taxis or other general public transportation.
Subway denizens, you have a real pushing and shoving problem, and Johnny T is here to help. So brush your teeth, take a shower and let's dive right in.
Now the entire video is pretty funny, so we have to recommend watching it in its entirety. We know in this day and age four minutes is essentially like asking someone to sit through Dances with Wolves. However, you will have the gift of education.
The most important lesson seems to be letting people out of the train first, which is far easier than bombarding the train with your selfishness. Just under that tip is the advice that a bag, as fancy as it might be, never deserves its own seat.
Really, the most powerful way to convey change is how Johnny T starts out the video. The M.C. of Manners states a subway trip is like, "Going to a party at a stranger's studio apartment at seven in the morning with 800 other people who all hate each other."
If you think of it that way, perhaps you will be more prepared with politeness the next time you are in a hurry to get to a Broadway show.
