Travelers looking for extra fun this summer will be happy to find out that Disney has big plans for Walt Disney World and Disneyland this year, including the debut of two new spectacular attractions.
Starting May 27, officials have announced that both The World of Avatar at Disney World and Guardians of the Galaxy -Mission: BREAKOUT! at Disneyland will officially open to the public.
In addition to the new Guardians of the Galaxy attraction at Disney California Adventure, the Main Street Electrical Parade will have an extended run through Aug. 20, and the Fantasmic! Show, Disneyland Railroad and Rivers of America attractions will all re-open this summer.
Guests at the California theme park will also be able to step into the Star Wars Launch Bay attraction and enjoy the Summer of Heroes festivities, which will include Groot, Captain America and Spider-Man.
On May 26, the Disney Junior Dance Party will debut at Disneyland, bringing children face-to-face with characters from Disney Junior television shows, including Doc McStuffins, Sofia the First, Mickey and the Roadster Racers and The Lion Guard.
"In the U.S. and around the world, Disney parks are making new magic for our guests," Walt Disney Parks and Resorts chairman Bob Chapek said in a statement. "With an irreverent and rockin' new attraction at Disneyland Resort and an entire never-before-seen world at Walt Disney World Resort opening this May, there are fantastic experiences in store for our guests. Starting this summer they will be able to step into the worlds of their favorite stories and characters like never before."

As for the debuts and activities scheduled for Walt Disney World, the opening of the World of Avatar will be supplemented by a new nighttime Rivers of Light show, a Music of Pixar LIVE! spectacular, the opening of Star Wars Launch Bay, the introduction of the Miss Adventure Falls family-friendly raft adventure and the May 12th opening of the Happily Ever After fireworks display.
For families looking to keep the kids and the adults entertained during summer vacation, a trip to Disney World or Disneyland is the perfect plan for 2017.
