For some, the middle of September signifies a kind of final end to summer as the realities of back to school and back to work start to sink in. But for Disney fans, however, mid-September marks the kickoff of three months of glorious holiday delights.
Yes, boys and girls, it's Halloweentime at Disneyland.
In a year that has netted a number of huge future developments for Disney, there are also plenty of new offerings to be found right now. For one, this year's Halloweentime adventures are expanding to Disney California Adventure for double the Spooktacular fun.
At Disney California adventure, two major new transformations take place Cars Land, including Luigi's Rollickin' Roadsters which becomes Luigi's Honkin' Haul-O-Ween and the Mater's Junkyard Jamboree, which takes on a spooky shell as the Mater's Graveyard JamBOOree.
Also, be sure to get your cameras ready at Carthay Circle, where the new 10-foot-tall statue of the Headless Horseman of Sleepy Hollow holds his jack-o'-lantern head up to the sky.
At Disneyland, as soon as dusk falls, make haste for Guardians of the Galaxy - Mission: BREAKOUT! which also enjoys a Halloween makeover as it transforms into Guardians of the Galaxy - Monsters After Dark.
Décor and retooled attractions aside, what has us most excited is the epic list of Halloween treats available at both parks. We're not going to lie, you're probably going to need a multi-day pass to work your way through the entire list.
Here's a land-by-land breakdown of what to look for:
Disneyland Park
Main Street, U.S.A.
At the Carnation Café, heat things up with the Spicy Chicken Sandwich, filled with Sriracha-glazed fried chicken and topped with Pepper Jack cheese and slaw on a brioche bun. Or get interactive with the S'mores Bar at the Jolly Holiday Bakery Café. Also, pick up the Mickey-Shaped Mummy Macaron (with chocolate-salted caramel filling) at the bakery café or Halloween-inspired donuts at the Main Street cappuccino cart.
Fantasyland
Cheese lovers make haste for Fantasyland where the Red Rose Tavern features an Enchanted Maize Flatbread with mozzarella, roasted corn and pickled red onions that is topped with Parmesan, spicy lime aïoli and chopped cilantro
Frontierland
Enjoy fare from South of the Border at the Rancho del Zocalo Restaurante, including the Barbacoa Torta and Chips with seasoned beef, guacamole mayo, refried beans, tomato, lettuce and cotija cheese. Or mix the delicious with the sublime at the Stage Door Café with the Campfire S'Mores Funnel Cake. We're talking funnel cake topped with chocolate-chile ganache and toasted marshmallow sauce and garnished with graham cracker crumbs and crushed peanut butter candy
New Orleans Square
Great, big meanie, Oogie Boogie gets his own dessert at the French Market Restaurant. That's right gummy worms are stuffed inside a confection that also includes layers of dark chocolate mousse, green pound cake and chocolate cookie crumbles, all encased in a dark chocolate cup that will have you singing "you're joking, you're joking, I can't believe my eyes."
Also try the Creole-spiced shrimp and cheese grits with spiced sausage-fava bean-corn relish and shrimp sauce at Café Orleans or the Bison Blue Cheese Burger Hungry Bear Restaurant.
Pull out your highlighters, folks, you won't want to miss the Dreamsicle beignets at the Mint Julep Bar.
Critter Country
Bison must be a Halloween thing because Disneyland has plenty of it. At the Hungry Bear restaurant, watch for the Bison Blue Cheese Burger with candied bacon, sautéed mushrooms, baby kale and blue cheese tarragon sauce.
Adventureland
Head off on a global adventure in Adventureland with the Lamb Kofta at the Bengal Barbecue. The grilled lamb is topped with tzatziki sauce, spinach and pickled onions on grilled pita bread.
Tomorrowland
If you're wondering if there's Halloween in outer space, perhaps the spider parfaits at the Galactic Grill and Redd Rockett's Pizza Port can help answer that question. Also at Red Rockett's, watch out for the special meatball Pizza with sliced meatballs, marinara, olives, roasted red peppers and pepperoncini.

The bar also serves up festive holiday brews such as margaritas, spicy ciders and micheladas as well as non-alcoholic lemonades and ciders.
Cars Land
As Cars Land takes dolls up with its first Halloween makeover, the land's menus are also getting in the seasonal spirit. Disneyland Hotel
Even the Disneyland Hotel is getting a Spooktacular menu makeover. You won't want to miss the "Trick or Tea" served noon to 3 p.m. from September 15 to October 29 and on October 31. Or sip the season with the Caramel apple cider at The Coffee House.
Park-wide
At special treat spots, like the Hunny Spot in Pooh Corner, Candy Palace on Main Street, U.S.A., and Trolley Treats at Disney California Adventure Park, keep your eye out for candied apples, cake pops, and crispies shaped like popular characters such as Mickey Mouse, Minnie Mouse, Jack Skellington and the Disney Villains. There's also pumpkin and pecan praline fudge.
Churro carts at both parks are celebrating with a rainbow-colored assortment of goodies, including purple, green and orange-colored churros; Sour Watermelon Churros (Frontierland and New Orleans Square in Disneyland park); Graham Cracker Churros with Marshmallow-Chocolate Dipping Sauce (Critter Country in Disneyland park); and Galactic Churros ( "a bug's land" at Disney California Adventure)
