When the Ferrari Land amusement park opens in Spain next year, roller coaster enthusiasts will be ready to ride the fastest and highest coaster in Europe, dubbed the "Vertical Accelerator."
According to FoxNews.com, the new Vertical Accelerator roller coaster will open on April 7, 2017, as part of Ferrari Land at PortAventura Parks and Resorts in Salou, Spain, and will feature a maximum height of 367 feet.
In addition, the ride will top out at a stunning speed of 111 miles per hour.
"The acceleration is going to be even quicker than a Formula One car. What is going to be very impressive is the G force on the vertical accelerator," Ferrari Formula One test driver Marc Gene told The Local. "At 4.5 G it is even more than a formula one car. Attractions will allow visitors to experience firsthand some of the sensations of driving a Formula One racing car. It's a park for all ages, where even the youngest members of the family can discover the legendary spirit of Ferrari."
Ferrari Land at PortAventura is scheduled to open on April 7, and was built thanks to an investment of €100 million from the Italian sports car manufacturer. The park will feature a race track, Formula One simulators and two free fall towers in addition to Europe's fastest and highest roller coaster.
The new park will also feature replicas of Rome's Colosseum, La Scala opera house in Milan, Piazza San Marco in Venice and the Palazzo Vecchio in Florence, as well as Italian themed restaurants.
ParkAvenutura already attracts four million visitors a year, and the addition of Ferrari Land should only entice more and more guests to visit the amusement park over the coming years.
