Enjoying a bit of Hollywood rubbernecking in Italy could cost you if you happen to be anywhere near the very lavish villa of one George Clooney.
Turner states the mayor has, “declared a fine of up to €500 (£370) for anyone who approaches George Clooney's luxury lakeside villa, on the shores of Lake Como in Italy.”
For Americans pondering what a quick peek at the actor’s digs might cost, that’s about $550 in fines.
Now you are undoubtedly curious what this villa looks like. Well, to prove Pozzi’s point, there are plenty of videos showing Clooney’s house on the Internet, like this video found on YouTube from a channel named Lake Como Properties:
We hope that’s out of your system, because if not, you are destined to incur unnecessary expenses on an otherwise beautiful holiday around one of Italy’s more picturesque settings.
The report has some specifics for those wondering what might garner a fine. It seems you have to stay in your car, because you will be taken to task if you leave your small European rental within 100 meters of either of Clooney’s two villas in the area.
Turner explains that Clooney, who has to deal with countless photographers in the area, and people ringing his doorbell like some tourism ding-dong-ditch game, “bought Villa Margherita, which adjoins it, to increase privacy.”
So we regular mortals put up a fence for some privacy. Those with the means just buy up villas.
Now we understand that Clooney and his wife Amal Alamuddin necessitate a bit of a freak out. But let’s try just a bit of civility and leave these people alone.
You have seen his villa on the Internet. Now go over indulge on wine and pasta like a normal human being.
