Group of Friends Chronicle Amazing School Bus Ride to Alaska

A group of friends decided to take a few months to fix up a shabby school bus and make it into a road trip marvel.

The result is a 13-minute video that is as much an archive of gorgeous landscapes and unforgettable moments among friends as it is a reminder that pals huddled around one another in a vehicle for a few days makes for some of the best trips.

A tip of the hat to Digg, which spotted the following video posted to YouTube by Inmist Media House.

It features eight friends and one temperamental school bus that was lovingly named Rowdy Bus by the intrepid voyagers who took it on an adventure to Alaska.

While the bus didn’t make the return trip, it stayed alive long enough for one awesome holiday:

R.J. Bruni, who shot and edited the above video, explains on Twitter: “In January 2015 8 of us chipped in and bought ourselves an old Ford E-350 school bus. We spent the next 5 months renovating and fixing it up to road trip shape. Unfortunately it wasn't enough since we had to leave her in Trapper Creek Alaska with a broken transmission. I hope you enjoy watching our adventure. Kickstarter campaign to save the bus is coming soon.”

Bruni was also kind enough to share some of the excursion through Instagram posts, which further illustrate the joys and pains involved with a road trip.

Of course the hardships are greater the longer and more arduous the road trip. The gang had to endure transmission difficulties, a broken carjack, gasoline issues and a depleted water supply.

But the good news is the joyous parts of such an endeavor seem to far outweigh the frustrating aspects.

The guys seem to be sad to leave their Rowdy Bus somewhere in Trapper Creek, hoping to one day return and finish the journey with their beloved yellow friend.

So far we haven’t seen a link to their Kickstarter, but we imagine its future success means a presumed sequel to one enjoyable ride along with Bruni and his traveling compatriots.
