Gwyneth Paltrow Is Spitting Hard Travel Wisdom

The key to more enjoyable travel is staying sauced and keeping moisturized—at least that’s a rather quick version of the tips offered by beloved actress Gwyneth Paltrow.
The New York Times’ Shivani Vora had the opportunity recently to sit down with the actress and purveyor of healthy lifestyles.
Thankfully, a major portion of the interview centered on the most precious of human endeavors: travel.
Fans of the 43-year-old actress can get a wealth of wisdom, but we had to offer just a couple that we feel are most noteworthy.
As for how to deal with a flight, Paltrow offers: “I drink tons of water, and I have a vitamin sachet that I put in it. Also, I moisturize my skin and put on a mask. I try not to eat rubbish either. I’ll pack salad and fruit. If I’m going on an overnight flight, I’ll drink whiskey or a glass of wine and then go to sleep, but on day flights, I try not to drink.”
Aside from the moisturizer, we have a lot in common with Paltrow who likes to unwind with the best in soothing libations.
Previously, she had relayed to Vora that unless she is in a town for a long trip, she doesn’t exactly hit the gym: “If I’m in Paris, I’d much rather take a walk and discover something amazing than be stuck on a treadmill at my hotel.”
Paltrow just made our day more than she ever has as Pepper Potts. And we absolutely love the “Iron Man” movies.
Further, we have to second the sentiment. You can ride a stationary bike at any time in your life. However, you have limited time in a new country to get out and simply discover.
Now there are so many more wonderful tidbits from the interview. But we think it’s an important reminder that travel calories aren’t actually calories that count in the grand scheme of things.
Our sage travel wizard offered: “When I’m traveling, I would rather eat what I want and come home and tighten it up. I don’t want to be in Paris and not have a croissant or goose fat potatoes. I love pasta in Italy, bread and cheese in Spain and wine everywhere. You don’t have to indulge all day, every day, but I think it’s important to your psyche to have flexibility and genuinely enjoy the food wherever you are.”
There is something so wonderfully refreshing about a healthy lifestyle guru reveling in the notion of goose fat potatoes.
You can be healthy the majority of the year. However, there is a time and place to let loose, and that’s anytime you are in a place you are experiencing for the first time.
Paltrow says so.
