Chances are that your average, everyday hike won’t result in running into an uber famous person who is attempting to make something of a Hollywood comeback while he is shooting a new movie in Ireland.
No, that scenario is just too darn specific to pencil it in as a possibility on your average ambles.
But that’s what took place when a foursome took Ireland’s Sugar Loaf recently and ran into none other than Mel Gibson.
The chance encounter eventually resulted in an Instagram post that immortalizes the moment and shows off Gibson who either came out of a cave after a 10-year nap or is playing a yeti in his next movie. Either is entirely possible.
The image comes by way of singer Heather Fogarty who captioned: “Climbed the Sugar Loaf today! It was great fun bit of yoga thrown in and to top it all off we met Mel Gibson at the summit! #SolidSunday #Mel #gibson #ireland #sugarloaf.”
Entertainment.ie has the skinny on what is taking place behind the scenes here. It seems Gibson is in town shooting a new movie, “The Professor and the Madman,” wherein he plays James Murray.
The report states: “Mel has been spotted all over the city, at The Tiger Dublin Fringe Festival, FX Buckley and Matt the Thresher, to name just a few places.”
So if you are scoring from home, Bigfoot and Mel Gibson sightings are all the rage at the moment.
The Hollywood Reporter incidentally reports that Gibson is slowly working his way back into the Hollywood fold over ten years after launching into a tirade following a DUI arrest in 2006.
Producer David Permut, who works with Gibson, offered the following on his comeback: “Believe me, there were conversations I had with people who were questioning me about going down the path with Mel. But he's not the person some people interpret him to be on the surface. Ask anyone involved with this film — above the line, below the line — they all revered him. The crew would lay in front of the tracks for Mel. It was an amazing experience and a learning experience for me because I got to know the man whom I never really knew.”
Perhaps the only evidence for his comeback need be found on an Instagram post that boasts what these locals consider a momentous occasion in bumping into Gibson the traveler who is in town to work and to also enjoy the area.
