Logan, also known as Wolverine, also known as mere mortal Hugh Jackman, was at popular tourist spot Bondi Beach this weekend lending a hand in what had to have been a terrifying situation.

As CNN reports, the 47-year-old actor was back at home, enjoying the beauty of Sydney’s popular beach when a strong riptide caused safety officials to take action.

As fate would have it, Jackman was in the area to offer help, saving his own son Oscar from the powerful waters.

Equally remarkable is the fact that the chance event was well documented, so much so that there is video as well as various images that have surfaced of the actor who has donned the sideburns and adamantium claws of Wolverine.

Here is a brief snapshot of Jackman doing what he can to ensure the riptide doesn’t lead to tragedy:

As CNN spotted, there was even a doff of the cap from the North Bondi Surf Lifesaving Club in the form of the this Instagram image and the ensuing caption.

Caption: “WELL DONE to Patrol 13 captained by Rosie Taliano & Tom Bunting this afternoon who completed 43 rescues in total with only a limited 12 patrolling members rostered on. There were also 3 rescues in the morning completed by Patrol 10…

@thehughjackman was also spotted assisting with rescues! Thanks Hugh.”

Twitter also had some images to share.

Bondi Beach is a Sydney oasis that attracts droves of visitors craving sun drenched fun and the cool kiss of the ocean.

Relatively close to Sydney, be prepared for a more congested beach atmosphere. This is hardly going to be like having the coast all to your own.

There is an upside, however, because you may just run into an actual X-Men superhero dressed down as a beachgoing human.
