Jennifer Lopez is coming to Las Vegas, so pack away your handles of booze and practice your blackjack strategy accordingly.
Madeline Roth, writing for MTV.com, reports Lopez announced the next step in her career during her current stint as judge for a wildly popular show.
Roth reports, “The multi-talented 45-year-old entertainer announced during ‘American Idol’ on Tuesday night (May 12) that she’s booked a residency at Las Vegas’ Planet Hollywood resort.”
Not content to merely announce the news with millions at home watching, Lopez went to social media to drop the initial throes of her marketing campaign for her Sin City stay.
Here is a brief but exuberant media blast sent out on Instagram:
The caption reads, “So excited!!! This is going to be the show I've always dreamed of creating. Tickets on sale Saturday, May 16.”
Lopez continued her thoughts via a press release, issuing what she sees as a continuation of her normally vibrant shows: “I've been preparing for this moment my entire life. The show is going to be a multifaceted high energy Jenny from the Block party, mixing all aspects of what my fans and I love - Dance, Hip Hop, Latin and Pop."
Now those eager to see Lopez in a Vegas concert have little time to contemplate, because tickets will go on sale at 10 a.m. PT on Saturday, May 16.
Tough there will be opportunities for the lucky duck variety to jump on tickets a bit earlier.
The press release offers, “American Express Card Members can purchase tickets before the general public beginning Wednesday, May 13 at 10 a.m. PT through Friday, May 15 at 10 p.m. PT. An exclusive pre-sale for Total Rewards members, the loyalty program of Planet Hollywood's parent company Caesars Entertainment, will also be available starting Friday, May 15 at 10 a.m. PT.”
So, to quote someone far cooler than I, get in where you fit in.
But, this being Vegas, you have to understand that you will be paying handsomely. The prices will range from $59 to a whopping $219, and that doesn’t include the oft-exorbitant service charges that will be slapped on top as well.
Fans will first see Lopez, who follows the likes of Mariah Carey, Britney Spears and Celine Dion as singers who recently leaped at a Vegas residency, on Jan. 20 with her first show.
Multiple dates follow in January, February, May and June of 2016, with 20 shows being announced in total.
So ready the credit card and celebrate the moment you realize a renowned singer/dancer/actress will be working all of 20 nights through six months of next year.
