Axel Foley is not going to be happy about this...neither will Linda Barrett or Santa Claus for that matter.
Character actor Judge Reinhold, who played supporting roles in three iconic films among his storied resume, was arrested Thursday afternoon at Dallas' Love Field and charged with disorderly conduct.
Reinhold became belligerent and used explicit language at around 2 p.m. when he was randomly chosen for a second security screening and patdown by Transportation Security Administration agents after his bag set off an alarm, his Dallas-based attorney said. He was asked if he wanted to go to a private room but refused and took his shirt off during his tirade.
At that point, Dallas police were called in. They later issued a statement saying they were "alerted by the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) regarding an individual causing a disturbance by refusing to submit to a screening at the appropriate checkpoint area. The officers responded and subsequently took the individual into custody after he refused to comply."
Reinhold, 59, spent about seven hours in custody before being released just after midnight. He was expected to release a statement later today.
The actor has played several memorable roles but is best known for portraying uptight detective Billy Rosewood to Eddie Murphy's Axel Foley in the "Beverly Hills Cop" series; beleaguered and frustrated teen Brad Hamilton, obsessed with Phoebe Cates' Linda Barrett in "Fast Times at Ridgemont High"; and sensitive psychologist Dr. Neal Miller opposite Tim Allen in "The Santa Clause" trilogy.
Reinhold also appeared in "Ruthless People" and the critically acclaimed television series "Arrested Development".
Reinhold was heading to his home in Santa Fe at the time of the incident. Disorderly conduct is a Class C misdemeanor in Texas and carries just a small fine.
