Despite their reputation as tenuous sharpshooters, this garrison of Stormtroopers hit the mark, joining Kevin Doyle in his most wonderful journey.

The 501st Golden Gate Garrison posted the following video to YouTube, showing the final leg of an emotional journey for Doyle who has walked a major expanse of California to raise funds for a great cause and pay homage to his late wife who passed away from pancreatic cancer.

As you will see shortly, a beautiful moment resembles a “Star Wars” march of Imperial forces.

In a real-life twist, these weren’t a collection of baddies but a gang of fellow enthusiasts who wanted to show support for one remarkable adventure across an enormous state:

For the uninitiated, we profiled Doyle’s walk back in July as he descended upon Comic-Con in San Diego, walking every inch of the way from Petaluma.

Originally reported on by The San Diego Union-Tribune’s Pam Kragen, Doyle explained the impetus behind his walk across California, which follows his wife’s death in 2012: “In the time since she died, I’ve struggled with how to deal with the loss. I’ve been self-destructive and my art suffered. Being out here, my mindset is an open book. I hope I find enough healing to be creative and work in that way again.”

Doyle decided to trek to the beloved Comic-Con while at Rancho Obi-Wan earlier this year. His wife being a huge nerd for all things “Star Wars,” the rest seemed like divine inspiration to Doyle.

The 57-year-old stated to Kragen, “When you lose somebody, you look for things like that. To me it was like she was telling me that this was something I needed to do.”

Along the way. Doyle has raised funds and awareness for Eileen’s Little Angels, a charity named in honor of his wife.

As Doyle explained to ABC 10 in July, he was expecting to cross the expanse of the Golden Gate Bridge by November:

A journey that began with the spark of a shared passion and the need for catharsis comes to an end a bit earlier than expected, but it hardly makes this story and epic expedition any less astounding.

With every step, Doyle has invigorated and inspired with a tale that resonates well beyond this galaxy and to one far, far away.
