KFC Romania is offering locals the opportunity to pretend they are on holiday in some exotic location. Americans who happen to stop by, relax. You are already in Romania.
The Next Web’s Ben Woods spotted a clever marketing campaign explained in the following video.
While our Romanian may be a little rusty, you can tell with the gestures and images that the KFC’s in the area are letting diners get in on some social media shenanigans.
The video seems to imply that various locations serve the food with nifty paper mats that will double as a holiday backdrop.
Then you can use your hands to mess with your friends and family whom you told that you were just heading out for a bite to eat:
The website seems to highlight the campaign, which now has the clever moniker of Fakation photos.
Taking a real holiday can be exhausting and expensive. So it makes fiscal sense to just pop into a restaurant and pretend that you are lounging on a beach somewhere.
Now if you want to take this further, we regaled you with the story of a woman who did just that in 2014.
With clever photography and an elaborate social media scheme, Anucyia Victor fooled her pals into thinking she had left on a whirlwind adventure in Southeast Asia.
As for us, we will just head to KFC and take a picture of us holding a ridiculously large bucket of chicken.
The shame is more immediate that way.
