Leap Bus Service is San Francisco's Coffee Shop on Wheels

Regular public transportation is fine and all, but it sort of lacks the elitism provided by getting some coffee and snacks on what is essentially a café on wheels.

The Awesomer spotted the following video that illustrates that all buses are not created equal.

No, some are the equivalent of that hipster friend who likes to remind you that they get far better acoustics out of their record player. In this case the extravagances include the kind of space that makes working from Starbucks such an enjoyable thing for the world’s more insufferable people.

The service is called Leap, and we would be mad if it didn’t seem so cool:

It’s like Uber and your neighborhood café had a kid and it went on to make something of itself, squiring San Francisco professionals between two neighborhoods for as low as $4 a ride.

So what do you get with your ticket? Well, it comes with a certain feeling of superiority, we’re sure. But it also boasts drinks and snacks that can be purchased through its app, according to Leap’s website.

You can get some work done too, because “Each bus has Wi-Fi, USB outlets, and delicious food for purchase every day.”

The website has a map of the current route and information including the promise, “We’re expanding to better serve the wider San Francisco community. Tell us where you live and where you work so we can bring Leap to your neighborhood.”

Social interaction and apps have spawned the highly popular Uber service, but it remains to be seen if the bigger bus crowd might see their day in the Internet sun.

At the very least innovations offered by Leap might be better incorporated into public transportation. Finding out where your bus is, for example, would be fantastic if it were more readily available to the masses.

In any case, enjoy your ride on Leap or, for the rest of us, act impressed when you see it drive by.
