Lyft Celebrates 'Ghostbusters' With Free Ecto-1 Rides In These Cities

Lyft is putting new meaning into ghost riding the whip, as this weekend you will be able to request your very own Ecto-1 to celebrate the upcoming “Ghostbusters” movie.
We don’t recommend actually getting out of the Lyft and dancing around it, however.
But you will definitely want to, because you may just have the chance to ride in one of the more iconic vehicles throughout cinematic fiction.
Called Ghost Mode, users will be able to request their very own ghostbusting ride and arrive to their location in style.
Just imagine taking the date out in this bad boy:
Please remember, however, not to look at the ghost trap and never cross the streams when using a proton pack.
Dwight Caines, president, Theatrical Marketing for Sony Pictures, states, “Up until now, you had to be a Ghostbuster to catch a ride in the Ecto-1.”
This meant fictional characters with a real interest in ridding this realm of paranormal activity.
Caines continues: “Ghostbusters is a great experience for all audiences, and now, with this amazing collaboration with Lyft, moviegoers of all ages all across the country will be able to experience that feeling of being a Ghostbuster. No matter the destination, Lyft riders using Ghost Mode will be arriving in style.”
Obviously, there are some caveats, because you can’t just take Ecto-1 out when you please. Local officials usually have a problem with such things.
The fun kicks off on Friday, July 1 and ends the next day on July 2 in New York City, San Francisco, Los Angeles, Boston and Washington D.C.
You will have a wide window to attempt to digitally track down a ride: 10 a.m. – 8 p.m. local time.
You get more than an opportunity to sit in an actual Ghostbusters car, you also have a chance to take away free goodies in the form of Hi-C Ecto Coolers or movie-themed Twinkies.
Anyone who has ever had an Ecto Cooler will tell you that it’s essentially nectar of the gods.
Finally, two lucky riders will win a trip to Los Angeles for the movies premiere. The rest of you will just have to rummage through the garage for your old toys and then see the movie when it opens on July 15.
