Success is never having to leave your sea lion home when on vacation.

The Daily Mail’s John Hutchinson reports one man in China is doing very well for himself, so much so that he was able to rent out the swimming pool at a five-star hotel for his pet sea lion.

Normally renting out an entire pool is enough to catch our attention, but the sea lion in this story is the candle high atop the birthday cake here.

The report states that the unnamed man, reportedly in his 30s, procured the pool for what is labeled as a birthday celebration.

Now we had assumed it was the man’s birthday, but when you bring your sea lion along for an expensive getaway, the mind quickly moves to presume the sea lion was turning one year older.

This beats making your cat wear a silly hat and sit in front of a lit candle and a cupcake.

Now you obviously want to see what it’s like to be “bring your sea lion to a hotel” rich. Twitter is there for us:

The sparsely attended shindig kicked off at the Ocean Spring Hotel resort, which is nestled in China’s Qingdao City.

Details on the sea lion party are a bit scant, but the report does indicate there was more than free reign of the pool offered: “The owner and his pet were given an all-access pass to the resort facilities and waiter service for those special fishy meals which were served by the poolside after being made by the chef.”

Today we learned that sea lion jealousy is a real thing and comes with surfing the Internet for one too many stories.

The man is said to be the son of businessman Wang Jianlin, who Business Insider recently profiled in an article.

The report states, “With a fortune of $40.7 billion, he's caught in a riches race with Hong Kong business magnate Li-Ka Shing to become the wealthiest man in Asia.”

That number is truly astounding, the kind of number that is tough for the noggin to contemplate.

Instead of listing off how much money he might have, any future report should state that Wang Jianlin is so rich that his progeny throws personal sea lion parties at fancy resorts.
