Our faith-in-humanity gauge is now firmly set in the full position.
WBNS-10TV Columbus reports on one Rebekka Garvison who was traveling with her baby from Kalamazoo, Michigan, to Fort Rucker, Alabama to surprise her husband who is in the Army.
Now a new mom traveling on an airplane isn't terribly noteworthy. However, a kind gesture offered to the bewildered parent is.
Garvison posted her experience to Facebook, which regales followers with the moment her crying baby finally fell asleep in the warm embrace of a perfect stranger.
Here is the lengthy post and an image of Nyfesha Miller and little baby Rylee:
As Garvison states, she boarded her plane at 5:30 in the morning with a baby that would prove to be one adorable but cranky little passenger.
The crying started almost immediately, causing Garvison to ask to move to a row where there were two open seats.
That is when she met Miller, who was far kinder than we would be if we discovered our previously empty row was now occupied by a baby who wanted to fill the cabin with a cacophony of screams.
Instead of frustration, Garvison was met with ultimate kindness and warmth.
We will let the happy mom take things away: "Rylee wouldn't stop crying no matter what I would try and do....so she had asked if I didn't mind if she tried and of course I let her. As soon as she had her, Rylee was looking out the window and stopped crying. When we got in the air she fell right asleep and slept in her lap the whole flight until we got to our gate. She kept saying it wasn't a problem at all and it was actually a comforting feeling for her. She even carried her off the plane and held her so I could get the stroller and carseat put back together so I wasn't struggling to try and do it all alone."
We won't pretend for one second that we would be as awesome as Nyfesha Miller. In fact, we have so often been a part of the eye-rolling masses.
Still, we can absolutely appreciate an amazing moment of genuine humanity when we spot one.
Travel can oftentimes be about rushing to make a flight or complaining about legroom. It can so easily turn into a hassle that devolves into one annoying moment after another.
But then there are those stories that remind you of why we go from Point A to Point B and why it can be so pleasurable in the company of strangers.
Yes, there are those stories that make you absolutely proud to be a human.
