Owen Wilson Has Us Captivated, Confused in Latest P&O Cruises Marketing Videos

Owen Wilson has no clue where he is, which is actually quite magical.

In an effort to explain, we point to The Daily Telegraph’s Robyn Ironside who reports that Wilson has offered his acting services to P&O Cruises to tout the line’s amazing features and amenities.

Now we unfortunately have to believe a lot of what is reported, because the cruise line’s YouTube channel does not allow users in the United States to view the four-part marketing campaign.

However, anonymous superheroes on the Internet have uploaded at least one of the advertisements, which happens to be the first of the four-part series, “The Conspicuous Awakening of Owen Wilson.”

We can extrapolate from here where the adventures might lead Owen as he enjoys the comforts of P&O:

Now we have to merely assume where things are headed, but it seems Wilson’s confusion will take him to various parts of the cruise ship, from the Blue Room seen above to wherever you might need a wetsuit.

The Daily Telegraph spoke with Simon Cheng who serves as the Head of Marketing for P & O Cruises.

Cheng had this to say about the decision to feature Wilson for its bewildering campaign: “Hollywood, like Pacific Aria and Pacific Eden, exudes style and sophistication so it was (to) Hollywood we looked to help launch these ships. We wanted the right star — someone easygoing and lots of fun. In Owen we found our perfect partner.”

As noted, the videos are an effort to tout P&O’s newest set of darlings: Pacific Aria and Pacific Eden.

Those not under the cyber constraint that is an American IP address can see the wide swath of videos at Be Free Owen. They are also promised to be shared not just on social media but also at various theaters.

Ironside does help us out with what we are missing: “Among the ship features showcased in the films, are The Oasis — an adults-only area of the cruise liners, the Pan-Asian inspired Dragon Lady restaurant, and The Blue Room which is reminiscent of a New Orleans ‘speak-easy.’”

We just hope the 46-year-old actor finds his way amid the luxury. We have all been there: You are so removed from the stress of everyday life that your holiday starts to look a bit alien.

Well, here’s to those trips that are out of this world.
