Pretty Woman, Selfies and Nude Museums Lead Crazy Travel Stories of the Week

Landmarks and movies celebrated birthdays, travelers took selfies and museums asked visitors to take off their clothes.

This week’s travel news was plentiful enough to give us jetlag. But that’s a self-correcting problem, because we now get to sit back and enjoy the week that was with some hot coffee and any sweets we have lying around.

Go ahead and pour a cup and enjoy some brilliance we found just sitting around the ol’ Internet.

Disneyland Is Born:

Some of you out there still have tapes containing footage of your birth gathering dust in storage. Disneyland decided to share their initial throes this past week with a wonderful time-lapse video.

Something tells us the resort’s 60th is going to be some kind of wonderful.

Titanic Endeavor:

TravelPulse’s Patrick Clarke covered this story of an upcoming video game that will put you close to the tragedy that claimed 1,500 lives when the Titanic sank nearly 103 years ago.

While certainly a polarizing issue, the game does point to a promising trend of immersive historical journeys—especially when you consider the game is also Oculus compliant.

Nude Exhibitionists:

Leave your modesty at home as the National Gallery of Australia welcomes an in-depth James Turrell exhibition.

Sure, that doesn’t sound tantalizing until you hear that the people enjoying the sights will themselves be nude. Secondarily, they will also be cold.

Epic Selfie Game:

Andy Davidhazy walked 2,600 miles of the Pacific Crest trail. If you don’t believe him, he documented his travel with a selfie at each and every mile marker.

Pretty Woman Turns 25:

The world celebrated the classic Pretty Woman this week. And, as it seems, it was us who received the birthday present.

Garry Marshall has promised to breath new life into the decades-old movie featuring Julia Roberts and Richard Gere. It will soon move to Broadway as a re-imagined musical.
