We all love a good tourism campaign, especially ones that land with a hilarious thud.
Travel website Just the Flight unveiled the following infographic that compiles the amazing hits and woeful misses when it comes to global tourism campaigns.
The masterpiece is entitled The High Flyers and Backfires, and you will soon see what the website means.
The following is an absolute trove of best-laid efforts that went awry. Surely, there are the Las Vegas “What Happens…” marketing motto to ballyhoo. Yet, for every success story, there is an equally awful campaign that seemed destined for failure from the very first pitch meeting.

For example, Spain’s certainly beautiful Costa Brava looked elsewhere for its marketing image.
As the graphic explains, the image touting this area of the country was actually of the Bahamas. Lithuania experienced a similar plight when it posted photos that were actually of Slovakia and Finland.
Here are more whiffs along with home runs as far as tourism campaigns are concerned.
