Well it seems stormtroopers land about as well as they shoot.
RT.com reports on a budding viral video that features dashcam technology, an out-of-service TIE Fighter and two befuddled stormtroopers who have some explaining to do.
The following video originated on Dein Sky Fim's Facebook page with the translated notation: "Warning: Unsecured crash site on the A3. Please, take a right and do not overtake!"
As you will see, these are not the competent pilots you have been looking for:
The above video was mirrored and posted to YouTube by user Laurent Gallen, garnering over 500,000 views as of this writing. As for the Facebook page, views have now surpassed 9.7 million.
As the report states, this video was taken somewhere along a German highway, which only resembles the icy and isolated confines of Hoth. The only thing missing might be a scruffy-looking nerfherder warming his friend on the side of the road with a recently dispatched tauntaun.
The first thought, actually, was that this was a Russian dashcam, because the country is rather famous for capturing some truly captivating events by way of tiny cameras.
As an added treat, the report reminds, "Over the summer, YouTube user Frank Wunderlich turned Frankfurt Airport, one of Europe's busiest, into an entirely different hub as it was transformed into the Imperial Starport."
For the moment, Star Wars fans will have to be content with 88-second trailers, ongoing plot debates for the upcoming movie and these wonderfully crafted Internet spectacles.
We are absolutely fine with that, because you can never have enough Star Wars guff-if only to remind that stormtroppers remain the biggest burden on the success of the Galactic Empire.
