If light beer commercials are to be believed, sports are best experienced on the couch surrounded by sweatshirt-clad friends, ice-cold longnecks and artificially-flavored cheese puffs.
While that can definitely be fun, real sports fans know there's nothing better than being there.
For those that love to travel, the ultimate win is when you combine a trip to somewhere magical with a major sporting event. 2018 is loaded with great opportunities to do just that:
January - Australian Open
The holidays are done, it's dark and cold outside, so why not go Down Under to chase a yellow orb that travels at high speed? Oh, and the sun too.
Melbourne is the scene of the Australian Open each year and, in addition to summer temperatures (Remember that whole Southern Hemisphere thing?), expect a party-like atmosphere in what is arguably Australia's best food and drink city.
Dates: 1/15-1/28
February - Super Bowl LII & The Winter Olympics
You might not pick up a tan in Minneapolis during February, but you will get to experience one of America's most underrated metro areas during the Super Bowl.
Pyeongchang, South Korea is the host of the Winter Olympics in 2018, and while the NHL isn't sending their players this time around, curling is still on, so you'll still see plenty of excitement on ice.
Dates - 2/4 & 2/9-2/25
November - Hockey & Hoops Weekend
The NHL & NBA are back in full swing by November. Since many cities have a team in both leagues-that share a venue-you can easily create a fun hockey & hoops weekend. Candidate cities include Toronto, Chicago, Minneapolis/St. Paul, Boston, New York and Denver.

December - College Bowl Bonanza
It's College Football Bowl Season and that means games are taking place all over the country. Go see one as a Christmas present to yourself!
It doesn't even have to be one of the big name bowls to make a trip special, either, with games like the Las Vegas Bowl, the Hawaii Bowl and San Diego's Holiday Bowl combining compelling matchups with enthralling locations.
